You Found x = 6 — Choice A. It’s the Trap.
On SAT systems questions, the test asks for an expression like 3x + 2y, but students solve the system, get x = 6, see it sitting in the choices, and bubble it — the intermediate answer — losing a point they already earned. Add the equations and x + y = 10 falls out; subtract and x − y = 2; so x = 6, y = 4, and 3(6) + 2(4) = 26. Desmos check: graph both lines — they cross at (6, 4), then 3(6) + 2(4) = 26. Always evaluate what the question actually asked for.
